If I could invent a machine it would be called the writing machine. It is a big screen like a plasma TV with a cord attached to it, at the end of the cord there is a helmet which you can get customized. It also has a special printer with lots of paper and a chair in front of the screen. All this high-tech stuff helps the machine to read your thoughts and write them down! To make it work sit on the chair and clear your mind. Then put the helmet on. Think of what you want to write and which pictures you want to add. If you want to erase something imagine an eraser rubbing it off. When your done think of a printer and everything will print out. It would be an extraordinary machine.

One day I went to see a magic show. They did lots of amazing tricks. A few days later, my friend brought a magic trick set. We decided to put on a magic show for the neighbourhood. We practiced for a whole week before the show. I was really nervous before the show. Our first two tricks went great! When it was time to do our third trick, everything went wrong. We were going to make the cat disappear (one of us would take it backstage from the back of the magic cabinet).I was supposed to take the cat back stage but when I looked , it was gone! I thought it has gone backstage by itself, so I went to take a bow with my friend. Everyone wanted to see us bring it back. We had trained the cat so when either of us said the magic word, it would come back. “Abra Cadabra”, I said. We opened the cabinet but the cat was not back. I said it a little louder but it was not back. We had to stop the show saying we had some technical difficulties. We looked everywhere outside but it wasn’t there. We even looked inside the house but it wasn’t there. Just before we put up the LOST posters, I heard a sound coming from the top of the magic cabinet. “what’s that”, I asked before looking there. I looked and saw that the cat had jumped on top of the cabinet and was asleep. It was a big relief.

One day my friend invited me to her house because their dog, Buddy needed a haircut. We went to a place called Pet Paradise, it was for any kind of pet : lizards, dogs, cats, chameleons, anything! I figured out Buddy did not like being very close to strangers, I was not a stranger to him, but the hairdresser who was giving him a haircut sure was! He was quite gentle so there was no point in bieng afraid of him. While we were waiting at the waiting area, Buddy hid himself under someones sweater, behind the lamp and even under my chair but we found him everywhere. He probably thought he was doomed until he saw the garbage can, he ran towards and into it. When we found him he needed a good wash too! unfortunately the hairdresser got bit by a cat so we had to leave.
We decided to make our own spa because Buddy’s fur was seriously overgrown. First, we filled the bathtub with water and bubbles. Then, we told Buddy to get in, after a lot of splashes we managed to get him clean. We wrapped Buddy in a towel and put him on the bed, which was covered in lots of towels. After that, we turned the hair dryer on “high” and dried Buddy’s fur. Later, with my friend’s mom’s help we started to cut his fur, he stayed calm because he was used to being near us. We made sure Buddy’s fur was cut evenly. After the haircut Buddy looked like a new dog.

One bright, sunny morning I was walking home from school when I saw a small dog. The dog was white with black spots, it seemed to be a Dalmation puppy. Since it was still early I had time to take it back where it belonged.
I tried to pick it up but I fell down ‘OUCH!’ I said. I chased the dog all the way to the park and down the slide. Next, I chased it all the way to the grocery store. Suddenly , I had an idea, I pretended I was tired. It ran up to me and I finally caught it. I checked its collar, It said 21 Filing Street. I took it back to its owner, she was really happy to have her puppy (Sally) back and her puppy seemed really happy to be back too!

One dark evening Lily Andrews was taking a stroll through White Oak Street, a street that was many centuries old. At exactly 7:00 she heard footsteps, she stopped but the footsteps continued, she saw a shadow. Someone or something moaned ‘goooooo awaaayyy or youu’llll beeee soooorrry’ Lily screamed for help! She ran to the nearest police station and wrote a report about what she saw. ‘I’m sorry’ said a police officer ‘but I bielive you have seen an illusion, there are many reports like this but we cannot bielive them.’
Lily was positive she had seen a ghost so she called the detective Ashley Taylor to help. The first thing Ashley did was ask for the similiar reports at the police station. Ashley noticed all the reports included the same moaning always at 7:00! Many of these reports were years old. She researched the internet on White Oak Street, she found out that one huge mansion was all that occupied the street, it was as big as a palace! In fact, it was a palace, centuries ago a king ruled the whole state and did not like trespassers on his palace grounds, even today, though they only rule a quarter of the state, there lives a royal family, 8 sons, 8 daughters, a king and a queen. Not many people know that they are being ruled by this family. The gates are closed until 7:00 p.m and close again at 12:00 a.m. Ashley thought, if the gates open at 7:00 and the so called ghost moans at 7:00 there must be some connection!
Ashley then made a plan to hide behind a bush at seven and see what happened at 7:00 p.m. That evening a light flickered two times but nothing came out. Ashley was dissapointed, but maybe it was a clue! probably a signal! If it was a clue it could be very useful. Ashley tried her plan every 7:00 for a whole week the lights flikered twice every time and nothing else happened. One day she decided to walk on the street without hiding, the light flickered only once, there were footsteps a shadow and the moaning sound! Ashley ran away as fast as she could.
The next morning Ashley looked over her clues and decided maybe the royal family was behind all this ghost stuff. She found out that no common people were allowed inside the palace, now was the time for disguise thought Ashley. She disgiused herself as a hungry and thirsty explorer who had lost her backpack. She was let into the palace and could choose one of the children’s rooms to stay in. She chose princess Lia’s room because it was the only one with a flashlight. That night she pretended to go to sleep, she heard footsteps coming from outside, Lia opened her curtains and flashed the flashlight one time and princess Erica (whose window was right in front of Lia’s) opened her curtains and window and pushed a button on a remote which caused a laying down statue in the garden to stand up and Erica also turned on a tape recorder which made the footprints and one in Lia’s room made the moaning!
‘Stop!’ yelled Ashley ‘I’m Detective Ashley Taylor and I would like to ask why you are doing this?’ they explained that the first king in the palace did not like trespassers and they wanted to continue his rules. From that day on the palace was open to public and everyone actually liked it.

Today, May 16,2011, We went on a field trip to Old Britannia Schoolhouse. It was one of the schools that ran during the 1800 and 1900’s. It was called Old Britannia House because it is located in the area called Britannia, where there was a small village.
First, we arrived and hung our jackets/sweaters up and put our lunch baskets/pail and hat/bonnet on the shelf. Then we found a seat, I got a seat in the middle row (which has two seats desks) in front of the blackboard. I was sitting beside Shajika.
We were still out of character and schoolmaster Hogan introduced himself and told us to write with our slate pencil, five questions we had about the school house. After that, Schoolmaster Hogan answered all our questions.
After that, we were told to imagine being a pioneer child who wakes up and reaches school. “Good Morning” said schoolmaster Hogan. We sang ‘God Save the Queen’ which was the National Anthem and we said ‘The Lord’s Prayer’. Then we did the attendance. When the person in front of you was done, you had to say “please schoolmaster, miss (your first name) or master (your last name) is present (not president). Next, we had a health inspection, I got to be one of the five inspectors. My isle seemed alright, so were the other inspector’s isles.
For our language lesson, we had to go to page 3 in our language books. We read a story called ‘The Idle Boy’. We had to answer 3 questions about story on our slate, I got all of them right.
While we were working, schoolmaster Hogan quietly asked Shajika if she wanted to be punished, Shajika said yes, so she was told to start talking to me, “Umm, which question are you on?” She asked. “Miss Shajika, will you please come up to the stage?” asked schoolmaster Hogan, “I am very disappointed with you, you should not be chatting or looking at someone else’s slate”. So as a punishment, she got her braid tied to a little wood stick sticking out of the wall. Shortly after that, Abhayjit had to hold one log in each of his hands, hold his arms out horizontally and balance on another but bigger log standing vertically. These were only two of the punishments pioneer pupils received, I thought it was quite funny.
We were again asked to close our eyes and imagine going back to the present time. Then we got our lunch pail/basket and ate lunch. Lots of people brought lunches very similar to pioneer lunches. I ate a Jam Sandwich and apple and drink water in a jar and apple juice in a jar.
At Lunch, just before recess , schoolmaster Hogan showed us the different type of games and toys the pioneer children used to play with outside. There were what I think were called hoops, stills, baseball, cricket, and a swing set. I played hoops with Yuvreet and She helped me walk with stills.
Next, we had to go back to pioneer times and start our cursive writing lesson. First we made a swaying design. Next, we wrote the letters s, i and t separately. Then we put the letters together and wrote sit. On the last line we wrote our name, I wrote Amiya.
Before our cursive lesson schoolmaster Hogan showed us some toys children used to play with. Some were carved by a pioneer who used to go to Old Britannia Schoolhouse when he was young and still living, he is ninety six years old! the toys had to be moved by human power instead of batteries or electricity. so did the clock.
For our final lesson we had a spelling bee. It was a very challenging one. I got one word wrong. I was one of the final six, that was when the words got a little harder. We played until only me and Harleen were left, that’s when the words got really challenging. I got rhubarb wrong (I spelled it as rubaurb) but so did Harleen , so we continued to the next word. I won by spelling Charcoal right. I got a certificate.
We spent the remaining time looking around the class and taking pictures. We even got to try the toys schoolmaster Hogan showed us before our cursive lesson.
I had so much fun at Old Britannia Schoolhouse. I learnt so many things about pioneers, pioneer schools and how the life was different and kind of the same as our life.

Last Friday all the grade 3 classes went on a trip to Jack Smythe Field Centre because we were learning about aboriginal people.
I was so excited when we arrived. I had never been there before,so I really didn’t know what to expect.
We went to the classroom inside the Field Centre and hung our bags up. There were lots of stuffed (not Teddy Bears stuffed) animals and birds. There was also a snake and two fish tanks in the classroom we hung our bags in.
After hanging our bags up we went hiking on a trail. My partner was Yuvreet. It was really fun to slide down small slopes of snow. There was lots of snow and slush. We even heard a woodpecker pecking on a tree, even though we could not see it, it was exciting to hear it!
We arrived at a teepee, I took three pictures of it. Inside it was warm, because there was a fire. A person who worked there named Angela taught us how maple syrup was discovered and how the aboriginal people made it. The fire was to show us how aboriginal people heated up sap. We got to feel racoon and hyena skin and even deer antlers!
We hiked the same trail back to the field centre and went back to the field centre to eat lunch. I had hot chocolate that was still hot and a yummy sandwich.
We took the trail to the place where we learned how pioneers made maple syrup,Mane told us all about it.The pioneers made maple syrup in a big pot unlike the aboriginal people who made it in a big, long log.
We did lots of fun activities at the pioneer station: cutting wood, making holes in logs and carrying a yoke. I liked carrying a yoke best. I tried my best not to wobble but it was really, really hard. I bet it would be extra hard if there was really something in it.
We hiked for a bit more and arrived at the sugar shack. We had to stand in a line while Lisa taught us a little more about the sugar shack. When we went inside the sugar shack, we learned how maple syrup is made these days. We learned that maple syrup has much more sugar than sap directly. We even got to taste maple syrup and its awesome!
After going to the sugar shack we learned how to drill holes in maple trees, Gary showed us how. We learned that there is a certain depth to drill in. Maple syrup tastes much, much better then sap because we tasted both.
We hiked back to the field centre, it was fun sliding on the hills again. We took our bags and got ready to leave, I wish we could have stayed longer!
I wasn’t very happy when it was time to go, I want to try going in the Summer with my family. We rode the bus all the way back to school.
I had so much fun at Jack Smythe Field Centre, it was awesome!!!

One day Christina and her sister Cristen were riding in their limousine to get to school. “I better check my mini TV to see the weather” said Christina checking the weather on the news channel. It said that somebody escaped from jail. “Oh, this is bad” said Christina. “What? The weather?” asked Cristen. “No silly!” said Christina, “somebody escaped from jail, and he or she might try to rob us because we are sooooooo rich.” “Oh um yeah that is bad” said Cristen who was barely paying attention.
So at school it was recess. Christina and Cristen were playing outside when they saw a police car racing to get in the parking lot. “I wonder what happened” said Cristen. The police officer was headed for the bank beside the school. “It might be the person who escaped jail!” said Christina. When they got home they asked their mom if they could go to their friend’s house. Ok, said their mom, just don’t go any where else. “Ok mom” they said, but they didn’t take it seriously. They were headed off to the bank. The bank was full of detectives and police officers. Cristen asked a police officer, what happened? “The bank has been robbed” said the police officer, “and if we don’t find out where all the money went we might have to close it down!” “But I thought the bank had great security” said Christina. “It does” said the police officer, “but we just have to find out how the thief came inside the bank.” “We can help” said Cristen. “No! This is no place for kids” said the police officer.
Cristen and Christina went home looking very disappointed. They made a plan; they would go to the bank at night and see how the thieves got inside the bank. But …… too late! They were kidnapped. Their mom woke up at the noise. “Cristen! Christina!” she called, but unfortunately she heard no answer. Cristen and Christina were dumped out of the bag that they got kidnapped in and tied to two uncomfortable chairs. “You know where the extra money is!” said one thief. “Tell us right now!” said another. “We will be back” said the boss to the girls. So he left with all his helpers. “Do you know where we are?” asked Cristen. “Yes” said Christina, “we’re in the sewers!” Suddenly somebody untied Cristen and Christina and pushed them into the sewerage. They got carried away by the water current. Hold on to me said Christina. Cristen grabbed on to Christina’s hand and they both climbed on to the land. “Something smells horrible!” said Cristen. “I think it’s us” said Christina giggling.
Suddenly they heard some noises. They cried for help. They realized that it was coming from the toilet ahead. The police officers heard them and found out that the noise was coming from the bank toilet. They helped the two girls out and asked them why they were there. Christina and Cristen told them the whole story starting from when they had made the plan. The police officers realized that the thieves must still be in the sewers because Cristen and Christina never saw them go out. The thieves were arrested and Christina and Cristen got $10,000,000, as reward money.

I went to my cousin, Sukhnoor’s (but I like to call her Noor) house. She gave me bubble gum, first she blew a big bubble with her gum, I said WOW! . Then I took my gum and I blew a bubble. At First it was really small, then I blew harder and it got bigger and bigger, it got so big that Noor’s bubble was nothing compared to it!!
It got so big, I slowly started to move higher and higher into the sky, I started to fly like a bird in the sky!!! I couldn’t get down, I wasn’t heavy enough! I was really afraid that if I open my mouth to cry for help, I would fall all the way down and hurt myself. No one seemed to notice me in the sky, they were all too busy in what they were doing. Some were reading books or watering their lawns. It was hard to tell when I was so high up. Suddenly, I stopped going up, instead I started moving sideways.
I floated over marineland, I really wanted to fall when I got there, but on the other hand, I can fall in a tank with a Beluga Whale, Killer Whale or even with a Dolphin (that would be fun with the Dolphin though). Then I floated over Niagara Falls. I really didn’t want to fall off there when I got there though! I looked at the beautiful waterfall as I flew over. Somebody threw their souvenir in the air, I caught it quickly before it fell into the waterfall. I kept it as a souvenir for this crazy adventure. I hoped I would float somewhere where there is no water, but I spoke too soon I was headed for Sauble Beach.
I floated over the lake of Sauble Beach and I knew that it is deep because I have been there before. I couldn’t help it anymore. The bubble was going to pop and I would fall down and I would drown because I am not that tall. I fell down, it felt like forever until the water looked perfectly clear to me. I closed my eyes, a minute later, I opened them, I had fallen in a boat. The driver was rowing it back to the shore, I was saved and even from far away I could see that there was a bus leading right where Noor lived.
I hopped onto bus and told Noor about my adventure, she didn’t believe me me until I showed her the coin that I got from Niagara Falls. I sure had fun that day

under my bed there is a magical place called the land of candy! Every house was a gingerbread house and there are workshops made of candy. Wild lollipops would grow from the ground. In winter powdered sugar would fall from chocolate clouds. In Spring, you can have a candy garden by following these steps, first, put a small square of sugar in your soil (crushed up chocolate), and second wait! Soon you will have fresh, home grown candy! In Summer, I go out for ice cream of course! And in Summer you can do usual things like swimming and visiting amusement parks…. made of candy! In fall it’s time to harvest your candy garden which is especially exiting if you live on a candy farm! All day long its amazing and yummy in The Land of Candy.
